Delete Your Account & Data
Your account is yours, and you can walk away whenever you want. This page explains exactly how to delete your Moodzy account and the personal data tied to it — either straight from the app, or by sending us a request if you can't get into the app anymore.
Deleting your account is permanent. We don't archive it quietly or keep a copy you can reactivate later, so take a moment before you confirm. Once it's done, your profile, events and chats are gone for good.
Open Moodzy > Settings > Account > Delete account to remove everything instantly. No app access? Email support@moodzy.club from your registered number and we'll verify it's you and delete your data within 7 days.
01Method 1 — Delete in the app (instant)
If you can still open Moodzy, this is the fastest way and it takes effect immediately.
- Open the Moodzy app and make sure you're signed in to the account you want to remove.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Account.
- Tap Delete account.
- Read the warning, then confirm to finish.
Deletion happens right away and can't be undone. Your account, profile, events, and chats are removed, and there's no way to recover them or reactivate the account afterwards. If you ever want to use Moodzy again, you'd start fresh with a brand-new account.
02Method 2 — Request deletion by web or email
Locked out, lost your phone, or already uninstalled the app? You don't need the app to delete your data — you can ask us directly, and this page is the public request point.
Here's how:
- Email support@moodzy.club, ideally from the phone or contact details linked to your account.
- Tell us the phone number used to sign in to Moodzy. That's how we find your account, since sign-in is by phone-number OTP.
- Put something clear in the subject, like "Delete my account".
We need to confirm the request is genuinely from you before we delete anything — this protects your account from someone else trying to wipe it. To verify, we may send a one-time code to your registered number or ask a question only the account holder would know. Once you're verified, we delete your account and personal data within 7 days.
Account deletion is irreversible, so we don't act on an unverified request. If we can't confirm you're the account holder, we won't be able to delete the account — that's a safety feature, not a delay tactic.
03What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, we remove the personal data connected to it, including:
- Your profile — display name, username, bio, avatar photo, gender, date of birth, mood and interests.
- Your phone number and the login record tied to it.
- Events you created (note: events are short-lived anyway and auto-expire after about 4 hours).
- Your messages — both group chats and 1:1 direct messages you sent.
- Photos and location pins you shared in chat.
- Your approximate location data used to find nearby people and events.
- Your push notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging), so you stop receiving notifications.
Once this is done, you no longer appear to other people on Moodzy, and the account can't be logged into again.
04What we may keep briefly, and why
We aim to delete everything, but in a few narrow cases the law or basic safety requires us to hold onto limited records for a short time. We don't keep these for marketing or to sell — Moodzy never sells your data.
- Legal and compliance records we're required to retain under Indian law (for example, the IT Act and DPDP Act and related rules).
- Abuse and safety records — for example, if an account was banned or reported, we may keep a minimal record to prevent ban-evasion and protect other users, including in cases involving child safety.
These records are kept only as long as the law or the safety purpose requires, and then deleted. They're held securely and not used to rebuild your profile or contact you.
Deleting your account removes your data from Moodzy, but it can't reach copies other people may have made outside the app — like a screenshot someone took of a chat. That's true of any app.
05Your rights and other options
Deletion is one of several rights you have over your data. You can also ask to access or correct your information without deleting your whole account. To learn more about what we collect and how we handle it, see our Privacy Policy.
Global users are afforded equivalent GDPR / CCPA-style rights. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian can also make a deletion request on your behalf.
